Tiptoe if you must, but take the step."

Meet Stephanie

Master of Science in Professional Counseling

Stephanie has a Master of Science in Professional Counseling with more than ten years experience working with caregivers and families experiencing changes and loss due to Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.

She offers services to clients who are facing issues related to aging: grief, loss, anxiety, depression, current life adjustments and issues that impact overall mood and daily functioning.  Her focus is on the importance of helping clients maintain a sense of purpose as they navigate through the changes and challenges experienced with aging.

Stephanie is trained as a Support Group Facilitator for the Alzheimer’s Association, and has a passion for helping caregivers understand the personality and behavior changes in their loved ones. Therapy can offer a safe space to share your feelings while learning strategies to reduce stress, anxiety and loneliness that can come with caring for a family member or friend.

Why Naturopathy

Services

Stephanie uses cognitive behavioral therapy to guide clients in identifying patterns of thinking that may be contributing to distress.  She helps clients explore other possible responses to use when approaching challenges moving forward. Clients gain tools to identify inaccurate and negative thinking patterns.

Solution focused therapy is used for goal setting and problem solving. This positive approach helps clients focus on the future by identifying what is currently working.

There can be unpredictable stages of life that cause uncertainty about where this is leading or how you will make it through. At times it may feel like you are walking the same path day after day.  Stephanie provides support and tools to improve your coping strategies as you navigate through challenges, helping you find purpose and peace on your path.

Anxiety

A personalized treatment plan is used to address the unique needs of the individual. Psychoeducation is used to understand anxiety and its triggers. Clients will be able to identify and challenge unhealthy thinking.

Motivation

Behavior activation is used to develop a specific plan to engage in healthy activities. A person who is depressed may lack the motivation to perform basic, healthy life tasks. This can cause isolation and poor health which forms a cycle of lessening motivation and worsening depression.

Grief

The grief caregivers experience can be complex, with a range of emotions including sadness, frustration, guilt and loneliness. Alzheimer's and other dementias gradually take away the person you know and love. You will experience feelings of loss and grief as your life is also changed by their diagnosis.
